Out Walk : Alderley Edge - 7th November 2007

I have always heard of Alderley Edge, but never been to The Edge myself or with my family. Organising the walk was a nice chance to visit the location and explore the area.  I used OS maps in order to gain an idea of the area and what footpaths where available to use.  The walk itself was sort of made up from the OS map and a brief visit was made before hand.  But the walk itself was even new to me.

Been Autumn when we did the walk, the trees were all of varying colours, reds, yellows, oranges.  Everywhere we walked the colours were impressive, especially as we also had a sunny day to undertake the walk, which meant dappled light casting through the trees.

I am sure Alderley Edge is much nicer during the summer months, but the Autumn walk was lovely all the same.

I am aware Alderley Edge is full of legends, folk stories and ghost stories.  Many have been well documented and can easily be found on the internet.  I certainly felt the Edge had a presence, not a unsettling one.  It was a fascinating location to walk around and the group enjoyed the walk.

I find woodland walks amazing places to explore.  They are so unique and different.  They hold their own character. They can be both beautiful and eerie as well. Each season a woodland changes.

The walk wasn't all woodland and countryside.  As we started in the town, we also returned to the town and went past some very impressive houses.  The reputation Alderley Edge has, is warranted, as the houses were very big, gated and likely very expensive.  The Edge I certainly would like to visit again and it wasn't over busy when we did the walk.

Please check out the album in the link below.  I took a lot of photos during the walk and the small amount of photos taken above don't give the area justice.  I want to explore more of the area, so some future visit will have to happen.  But meantime, enjoy the pictures below of the walk the group undertook.
